Sleeping With Earrings On

Almost two years ago my fellow T. Schreiber Studio alumni, Stephanie Iscovitz, asked me to join her in writing an one act play.  Her vision was set the morning of a wedding day in the bridal suite.  Having just been through the process myself, as well as practically being a professional wedding guest (10 weddings in 10 months-only 1 being local), she invited me onboard.  We figured instead of waiting around for opportunities to come knocking on our door, we would create them for ourselves.

After our script Sleeping With Earrings On was accepted to the New York New Works Theater Festival, Steph finally shared with me that she had submitted (sneaky!). Friends, family, a panel of Broadway producers & Emmy award winning writers (plus strangers in the audience) voted us through to the finals & ultimately named us the grand prize winners!

Together with our director, Jaclyn Gramigna, and cast mates Sue Caro, Noelle LuSane & Amy Rutledge, we decided that we weren't ready to say goodbye to our little story that meant so much to us.  We then proceed to raise well over our goal (87% over!) on the independent film crowdfunding site Seed & Spark to turn our one act play in to a short film.  After a long weekend filming in Connecticut with an all-star all-female (22 ladies!) cast & crew, we are just about ready to share our short film at festivals through out the country.
